Deer StagsMen's Herman Loafer

I purchased two pair of the shoes, one brown and one black. I wore the brown one a couple of times over a period of a 2 weeks . The third time I was going to put them on the medial side wall broke. I wear these shoes at my office and do not put any hard wear and tear on them. I was leaving to go on vacation the next day and put them aside. When I got back I looked at the black pair that I got and it seemed like it would not take much to break them as well. You could see the same part moving easily and stretching the thin man-made material that covered the inside. I looked at similar leather shoes that I have been wearing, however, you could tell a big difference between how the leather shoes would hold together much better than the thin vinyl covering of the Deer Stags. Looking closely at the shoe, on the underside it says "Upper- Simulated Leather, Balance Man Made Material " or in other words the whole shoe is man-made material. Through Amazon I contacted the maker but, I suppose, as I was a couple of days out of the 30 day warranty they did not even return my message even though I plainly described the problem and how it was a workmanship/quality issue. I would never, ever buy shoes from this manufacturer again

UPDATE: I was hoping this was an anomaly as the pair of these in black that I purchased after the brown pair, but before the brown pair failed, seemed to be fairing a little better, but no they split after only 50~ days of use. These are absolutely not worth $40 if you can't get more wear out of them then that. I really wish that I could give these zero stars.Original Review: I really liked these shoes when I first received them - Their very deceptive leather-like appearance (multiple people have assumed they are leather) is great for people who can't wear leather due to allergies, but don't want to be stuck with the usual fake plastic look of most shoes that are made of all synthetic materials.However, less than a month after purchase, only wearing them at my office job, the seam along the instep split. The stitching didn't fail, but instead pulled through the unreinforced vinyl, now the same seam on the other side has also split. Who, who has ever worked with vinyl would think that an unreinforced 2mm thick strip of it would hold up to the wear and stress that a shoe would normally be under? This is just a terrible design flaw. I also just missed the 30 days period I had to make a return (today is 37) so I'm stuck with this pair of shoes that looks great, are really comfy, and started to disintegrate within a month after purchase.

I bought this product in January and I've only worn a few times as you can see by the photo of the sole. I pulled them out at my son's graduation this weekend and the side had totally unraveled. Sent an email to the seller and have not received a response in 5 days. I would recommend staying away from this product.

Bought January 8th. Started wearing regularly March 8th. Its April 8th and they broke 2 days ago. More specifically, all of the threads that hold the upper on broke, so the shoe would no longer stay on my foot. Folks at this company should be embarrassed.Too bad. They fit well and they didn't look like the cheapo shoes that they were. But no matter -- if they last only 30 days, no one should buy them.

After first day of use. The pictures tell it all. Top separated from bottom. And are not useable. Hopefully I will get a refund. I just wanted to add, Amazon refunded immediatly.

Because I walk and Metro to and from work, I wear trainers and then swap into work shoes at the office. I long ago transitioned to dressy loafers from business lace-up oxfords. I wanted a replacement for my black tassel loafers and took a chance on these primarily for the expected comfortable fit. However, I found them to be just a smidge too tight. I think part of the problem is the foam footpad ... while cushy, t's also thicker than I expected. The upshot is tops of my feet feel pressed against the undersides of the tongue and toe box areas. I did decide to keep the shoes because they weren't causing pain, just pressure, and i'm sure they will eventually become looser with wear. But, since I've just read all the previous reviews, it looks like there is a high chance that the shoes will loosen up because the stitching will fail. Bummer.

I've been wearing Deer Stags "Herman" shoes for many years now. I bought a brown pair in April and this black pair a few weeks ago. The quality of this shoes has consistently been dropping the last year or so. The side stitching on the last brown pair I bought in April is so loose you can see through the gap. The quality on this pair Initially looked great but after the 4th day of wear the stitching on the side broke free and unraveled from the heel leather all the way up to the front of the foot opening. The string is still there so I may try to use an upholstery needle and re-stitch the side back together. I'm very disappointed in the resent quality of these shoes.

These are really cheaply-made shoes. They weigh about as much as a hamburger bun, and you can tell they aren't going to last forever (I wear shoes like this to work and it's usually the soft rubber soles that go first, they wear so thin that they crack across the width). For this price, I don't expect them to last forever. They look okay and they fit nicely for the price. When they get dowdy looking, you can throw a coat of liquid polish on them and get another couple months. Can't blame the shoes for my being cheap.

These are dress shoes and I don’t have many occasions to wear them. On the 3rd time wearing the shoes, the seam on one of the shoes separated. Since it is past the return date, can I get warranty on the shoes?
