With her beautifully crafted songs full of vivid imagery, Vega brought the folk singer-songwriter tradition to the alt-rock age with her 1985-96 albums "Suzanne Vega," "Solitude Standing," "Days of Open Hand," "99.9 F°" and "Nine of Objects of Desire." Even as the productions get more and more electronic and dense, Vega's stories and ideas dominate as you hear her hits "Luka," "Tom's Diner" and "Solitude Standing" plus "Marlene on the Wall," "Tired of Sleeping," "Men in a War," "Blood Makes Noise," "Casual Match" and more! A great future collector's item of a great artist
I Have love Suzanne Vega for years and have seen her live many times. I love the poetry and observational slant of her song writing. I owned all her albums on vinyl so this set was a great find. It is in a strong case with each album in a strong slipcase cover all beautifully printed on strong card. A great and affordable way to own her earlier albums, They have all been remastered and the sound quality is really excellent and the Cd's themselves are really smartly printed. I have always loved her album "Days Of Open Hand" and it is still my favourite to this day, she toured with this album and it was the first time I saw her live and she was amazing. Shes a rare artist who sounds as great live as she does on Cd.This is a great collectors item (or will become so) The back covers of each sleeve has images taken from the original Cd booklet from each original album and collaged in a really smart way. The only down side could be that over time taking the Cds in and out of the covers over time could see them becoming scratched. But A& M have really though about this se and ity shows its a great introduction to Suzanne Vega's music at a really good price, you will not be disappointed with this purchase

Excellent value - great music
At some point in the late 80's I happened to hear the song 'Luka' on the radio. Having only previously been aware of the usual chart pop music, I was instantly hooked, and bought Suzanne Vega's first two albums (both part of this package) in pretty short order. I loved them and couldn't wait to get the third (also in this set). I don't know if it was over-expectation, but sadly, I didn't like it. I can't exactly put my finger on why, but unfortunately it led me to stop listening to Suzanne Vega at all.Which was very much my loss.Fast forward nearly 30 years and I came across this package on Amazon and decided it was time for a re-evaluation. 5 full albums neatly packaged in their own cardboard sleeves, all slipped in snug little cardboard box. I fear the cardboard will become worn before too long, but at the price, I think this is an amazing deal.I still love the first two albums, but I was worried that I might still not like the third, and I hadn't heard the other two at all. If I'm honest, I can't say they really 'grabbed' me, but they are really growing on me. Suzanne Vega has a beautiful voice, and has created some wonderful music - this is a great set.

Vega's best works in a slip cover
I love these 5CD repackages - although it would be better if the artist was getting any of the cash. Maybe I should send Suzanne a gift card to make up for it...This set is the usual drill - simple cardboard sleeves hold the CDs in a simple cardboard slipcover. No bonus tracks, and I didn't track down which masters were used for these discs - but I'm sure it's out there. One thing that's really a feature is this box is about as small as you can go, but still included each release on its own disc, in protective packaging. So these use less shelf space than any other format.

Great sound but are they really remastered?
Having a bit of a Vegafest at the moment. Recently bought the Close Up set (such a lush/clean/fresh sound) and then saw this collection. At the current price you can't go wrong. I've just opened them and done a mini A-B test. The few tracks that I've compared sound superior, but I've yet to find the word "remastered" anywhere on the packages or even in the Amazon description for that matter, so are they? All the copyright dates are per the originals but I guess they would be... As far as the packaging goes, well, it is a bit minimal but I've just put the new ones in the old cases. Job done :)

Inexpensive way to explore Suzanne Vega's back catalogue.
I missed out on a lot of 80s and 90s music due to work. After hearing Luka and Left of Centre on compilation CDs I bought her Retrospective CD with all the early hits. This inexpensive 5 CD collection has let me find other interesting tracks which are just as good after a few listens.

Great history of the singer
I had her first two albums on vinyl years back. This includes those plus later albums where her direction and the production change slightly. She is a gifted songwriter and there are plenty of good examples on these discs. The early albums are very stripped back, no overproduction and dubs just her and her guitar on a lot of the tracks. This changes through the box set as she is pushed to be more commercial.

DON’T DO IT. Read my review,
Absolutely awful. Read Errors on all the discs. Really cheap nasty rubbish. I’ll let you know what happens when I ask for a refund!
