It's a great little machine!
This little portastudio is great. One small warning as this one appears to have come from a foreign country so the power supply had a poor two pronged adapter plug which has a tendency to come out. If that happens, not only do you lose your recording you can trash the disk you are using. That happened to me but I corrected it by super gluing the 2 pronged plug into a British type adapter plug and beginning again.Record quality is good, once you've worked out how to used it. Instructions are poor and you need to take care and polish your recording technique.

It's quite good
Feels solid and well made. Reviews say it's pretty good. It was pretty good love the sliders , about the size of an A4 piece of paper. Intuitive. I bought for monitoring vocals but it sounded unsubstantial. I have a boss BR8 from 2000. I've been looking for a portable device to replace it. Tried; zoom R8 zoom R24, other newer boss including BR80 (bought it) , Tascam DP03SD ......They all sound like the sound is coming out of a tin on the monitor mix. It's fine when you put it on a PC daw dry then add effects but like I said it sounds horrible when monitoring. None come up to the vocal monitoring of my very old boss br8. It's the closest sound to a studio . It's gorgeous. Especially when you are doing vocals it makes you sing better when you can hear the nuances of the sound. Please any company make me a portable device with the same audio quality.

Impressive bit of recording kit
I don't gig anymore but I did enjoy doing studio work, needless to say I am very impressed with this all in one mixer/digital studio recorder. My previous recording knowledge helped me to quickly understand the new tech digital recorderer, lots of features that I am trying out, I've spent more time exploring all the effects that are built in. The layout is OK for recording and mixing down, the display is small but I can cope with my 66 year old eyes wearing my reading glasses, my first 8 track recording system cost £2500+ back in the 90's so this is a super low cost recorder with no tape hiss or cleaning the of the tape heads each recording session. very good multitrack recorder
very good multitrack recorder, if your a band wanting to lay down tracks probably not the recorder for you, as it only does 2 tracks at a time I use it for producing acid techno so I can record drum patterns then on 2 separate tracks record the bassline afterwards only complaint I had wasn't with the machine it was with the sd card that came with it. It wasn't a 2gb sd card as stated on the box it was a 4gb micro sd with an sd adaptor when I checked the capacity of the card in my computer it read 2gb not 4gb as printed on the memory card, not really an issue as I didn't use the card because I didn't trust it all in all a good recorder, the screen is a bit small for the levels but apart from that well worth the money. and well made the usual Tascam quality.

A couple of concerns but overall happy with it
After the first use my practise room smelt like burnt circuit boards, I did reach out to amazon about it, but never got a reply. However, since then the smell has reduced a lot and is not longer a major concern.Another issue is the headphones which are way too low, it seems as you turn them up to almost full volume, the volume seems to drop. I don't know if that is intentional in order to protect hearing or a defect related to the burnt smell and this was also reported in the reach out. So instead I ran it through the outputs into my focusrite clarett and now the volumes are a hundred times better. As for use, a little bit confusing, but after watching a few videos on YouTube, it all makes sense now and I have had no problem recording guitars / ukes and importing drum tracks etc. The SD card can easily be put into a usb drive and wav files can be copied into the SD car wav folder on pc, then imported into the track. So overall, I am happy with it, despite the couple of issues.

Simple to use, much to master!
I bought this nine months ago, and just have taken it out of the box! I was a bit intimidated by it, thinking it would be a bear to learn. Finally had some time, and to my surprise it's actually quite intuitive! I'd never done any multi-track recording, but I really wanted to get a decent "demo" copy of several songs I have written. I haven't mixed down and mastered yet, but step by step I will get there. I've done two songs so far, and will continue to work on them. Bass, drums, 12 string guitar and vocal so far. They sound decent as is. I'm going to experiment with my keyboard next. I may bring in some harmony vocals. Already the songs sound so much better than I thought they would. This thing is fun as well as productive. I'm sure it won't replace time in a studio with a producer, but for those of us who love to write songs it's a great way to test and preserve ideas, work them by experimentation, and preserve them for the future. Now I can't wait for the weekend to play with my studio!I bought the "used-like new" model for a substantial savings and it was true to description. Original packaging, not a scratch on it. I definitely recommend saving some bucks.

Great alternative to always being tethered to a DAW
I’ve been using a computer DAW setup for quite a few years but I decided to purchase this for those times where I just want to hit record and go. The audio quality is excellent and the built in effects are very good. There are a few limitations such as the number of effects that can be used together and the editing is a bit more cumbersome with limitations. However, it’s a very easy process to take your recordings from the Tascam and export them to your DAW. I’m not abandoning my DAW completely, just adding another option. I will still do some editing and final mixing in my DAW for the tracks I record on the Tascam. I think it’s the best of both worlds to have both available. It’s also a great setup for mobile recording. You can record up to 8 tracks simultaneously with 32 total tracks and it’s a simple task to pack it up and go such as for recording a live band, etc. I think you can’t go wrong especially at this price.
