Think of it as a filter for your filter! It’s purposely designed for turtle tanks and dirty reptile terrariums that easily clog normal canister filters. It extends the life and efficiency of any canister filter while becoming an additional stage of filtration! This allows for your regular canister to not clog as quickly and to run smoother. It’s great for turtle tanks, along with terrariums for frogs and other amphibians.Tough on Turtle Waste: We know that our little turtles sure poop a lot, and everything they touch becomes completely dirty! This Pre-Filter serves as the first line of defense in removing dirt and floating debris, making sure your regular canister filter is not working overtime! With the 2 included Coarse Bio-Sponges, the surface area for mechanical filtration greatly increases. Another beneficent to the Pre-Filter is that that you can clean it separately!Unique Features: The Reptology Optimizer Pre-Filter is non-motorized; it’s powered by a regular canister filter. Although it has a flow control handle for additional customization, it’ll maintain the flow rate of the canister filter it’s connected to. The two 360° independent valve taps rotate fully, accept 16/22 mm tubing, and their base features a quick release function. An adapter is needed when not using 16/22 mm tubing. Tube adapters are not included. Additionally, the whole unit can easily be carried with the one-hand lift handle, along with 2 extra-large media baskets that align for easy assembly and maintenance. These baskets can be customized with various types of filter media.
