Product description 2000 SULLIVAN ENTERTAINMENT Boxed set of 2 VHSs .com In a departure from L.M. Montgomery's book series, this third TV movie jumps ahead to World War I and puts Anne and her beloved Gilbert smack in the middle of it. Instead of marrying Gilbert after her teaching days--as she does in the books--Anne spends a disillusioning year with him in New York City, and then the couple quickly marries before the good doctor ships out to France. (In the book Rilla of Ingleside, Anne's sons go to war and her youngest daughter is separated from her sweetheart.) Impetuous as ever, Anne joins the Red Cross and crosses the pond to track down her husband when his letters are returned unread. What follows is an adventure that takes her through battle zones--where the bodies pile up faster than you can say Saving Private Ryan--and on to London with a half-orphaned baby, her best friend's injured husband, and a tangle of international intrigue. Fans of the 10-book series may balk at the divergences and the fact that very little time is spent on Prince Edward Island. But the book's unrestrained romanticism and unapologetic sentimentality remain intact, as well as the surviving cast of the prior two movies, most notably Megan Follows as Anne and Jonathan Crombie as Gilbert. This movie, produced in 2000, clocks in at 185 minutes and is suitable for ages 9 and older. --Kimberly Heinrichs

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie.. and here's why
First off I purchased the VHS version. I'm 22 years old and for nostalgic purposes I wanted the VHS. It ran fine, it had a few film stutter moments but that's part of the vhs feeling ya know? It didn't affect me watching it.Now for the movie... I've put off watching this my whole life because people said " it will ruin the other Anne movies.." or " It was terrible full of war and sad.." . Okay, I went into it having low expectations. But I was pleasantly surprised! I thought the movie was great and insightful! The other Anne of Green Gables movies are happy and fun, and why? Because she was a child who was orphaned and found a loving home to grow up in. Those are going to be happy movies. This movie however is when she is all grown up, in the real world and trying to figure things out in a stressful environment. Above all in the actual time period.. there was a WAR happening WW1 (1914-1918) ! In real life back then I'm sure it was not a happy and fun time. I am a history buff at heart so I appreciated how the story was told and the film was shown in that era. At times I felt like 'Anne' could've been more expressive to match her past younger character. But again she's grown up now and and people change. Also I'll say this I think what the "worst" thing about it for me was the way her voice sounded throughout the movie. (haha) it really threw me off in the beginning, she just sounded so different compared to her previous Anne. But anyways... that's my two cents. Go into the movie as if you are catching up with a good friend that you haven't seen in 15 years during a war time. and That might give you a different appreciation for the movie. That's what I did and I enjoyed it.

I never read the Books!!
First, I am a guy and I loved the story of Anne, and I liked the first two movies. My girlfriend fainted when I said I wanted to watch them with her, because she has never seen the two movies. I didn't even know they had a third, and when I found out I bought it as fast as I could.I didn't read the books, but being a fan of the first two movies; I thought I couldn't go wrong to see the ending of the show. This story is the end of the Mini Series and not the books. So once you understand that, you can enjoy the movie a little more.First - Megan Follows was older in this movie, but damn she still looked good. :-p I had to throw my manliness in this review somewhere. lol.Second - It wasn't really Anne from the first two movies, she is more serious and while I appreciate the fact they made her grow up, I would have wished to see some of Anne enduring traits as what made her so popular in the first two movies. She had no imagination in this movie, and it was a War story that made almost no since. She just didn't feel like Anne anymore, in some area's there is a hint of her in that older lady, but just gone. Also, she was around 17 or 18 in the last movie. In this movie she would have been in her early 20's when married to Gill, and their characters looked so much older than they should have. It was nice to see both actors back thou, and I do applaud Sullivan Entertainment for doing so. It's just they should have made this movie sooner, than they did.Third - What was going on? I felt stupid for not really getting the plot of the movie. At one point she is holding a child, the next in a conspiracy that made no since. Dumb one liners thought-out the whole movie, to the point she looked like she was about to kill a Nun for not telling her where her husband was. :-p it's all good, but could have been better. If you're like me, and never read the books, this show at least ends the Mini Series, and leaves no questions asked about Anne's relationship with Gill, or anything else. Personally I wouldn't mind a reboot of the series with different actors. Megan Follows was very good in the role, and I don't think there will hardly be anyone better, but the show could use an update, that way the third movie can be more like the book. I gave this movie 4 stars only because it was not a bad movie, just not Anne in a way we knew her in the past movies. If you didn't read the books, then you won't be vastly disappointed in the ending.

Glitchy
The whole movie was glitchy right through. I was very hard to watch it. It should not be doing that for a new movie.

perfetto
