Gardein Ultimate Plant-Based Jerky, Original 2.25 oz

Some people are saying it’s too salty but that’s precisely why I got this flavor, I need sodium and protein l, and in a nice shelf stable snack this was perfect. It has been super hard to find something that’s not just carbs and sugar that I can keep beside my bed if I get too dizzy and weak. Plus finding a vegan jerky that tastes amazing plus has the exact right texture and bite, more like think the jack links teriyaki nuggets versus jerky. It’s soft enough but also gives you the satisfying bite you crave when you need that Unami fix and go full cave person style on it lol love it, want more, and with all my health thy issues is somehow one of the only handful of items I can currently eat. Thank you gardein! Now just wish i could get a nice box full to satisfy my cravings for more!

In my 15+ years as a vegetarian, this is the BEST veggie jerky I've ever had. Before becoming vegetarian, jerky was my absolute favorite food and the one thing I miss. This hits the spot. The taste is great and the texture is fantastic. It's like getting that one perfect piece of jerky in a package every time.Sadly, much like regular jerky, you don't get much in the package for the price. Although I wish they would give you more in the package it's not going to stop me from buying it. I just buy it less than I would if I got more for my buck.

I personally didn't find it that salty. No more than any other jerky product on the market. In general, the flavors weren't impressive, but I still found them good and in line with what they described. The basic one is my favourite, though.As for texture, this is probably the best jerky texture I've found in vegan jerky. It's tough and has a great mouthfeel. Though, once or twice, I REALLY had to chew into a piece to break it off.There's also not a lot in the bag, but it is affordable, so maybe it's worth it.4/5 stars. Will be buying again as a regular snack.

1 star for texture. It's better than the wetter vegan jerkies but worse than some of the amazing soy and mushroom jerkies. It tears decently, but it more like particle board than actual stringy "meat".Everything else here is really, really bad. I love Gardein frozen meat substitutes, always call it "voodoo meat" in my household, especially those amazing beef tips, but this is not a good product. Not only is it WAY TOO SALTY (and I'm not a vegetarian so I eat really salty actual beef jerky) but the flavor is unpleasant. I can't pinpoint it but it is a little like eating soap. I don't know how anyone can rate it highly unless some of us are getting bad batches. Oh gross I can still taste it. Blech. I gave the rest of my piece to my husband. He doesn't dislike it as harshly as I do, but he doesn't want to eat it.I double checked my bag and yes, it is teriyaki flavor. Yet it doesn't taste of soy sauce and it wasn't sweet.

I bought 6 different jerkies to try and find my favorite and so far I've tried 3. The ones I've had in the past tasted good but didn't replicate the jerky texture. That's where this falls. The texture does not say jerky. Still makes for tasty snack but it's not quite there. It is on the salty side but if I remember correctly a lot of real jerky is and it wasn't enough to turn me off.Of the 3 brands I've tried so far, this was least like jerky. It's also on the expensive side. The others I bought and liked more were twice the price per bag but they have 3-4 times as much jerky. I just bought more of those other two brands, but not the Gardein. I love Gardein products and just about live off them, but the jerky isn't worth the premium the name demands.

These taste so good. I got original flavor and it was absolutely delicious. There's hardly any in this package for what it costs but if there price isn't a big deal go for it. I see a lot of reviews complaining about salt but it's jerky. Complaining about salt in jerky is silly.UPDATE: I decided to change this from four to five stars. I have set this up to autoship one per month. I look forward to getting it every time and I have decided that it's good that there isn't a lot in the package. I think I could easily eat way more. If you like a very salty snack there's nothing like this. Please don't listen to the people complaining that this is too salty. This is the only vegan jerky that is salty. Salt tastes good.
