Privacy is Dead!
The author shares 36 essential rules to help you preserve your most important asset... your reputation. Whether you are a teacher, politician, CEO, soccer mom, coach or pastor...you must understand the new rules of today's transparent society.Social media sites have exploded in popularity. Here are several of "The New Rules of Reputation" listed in this book:Rule #2: Live as though your mother is watching.Rule #8: Be FLAWsomeRule #11: Complain = Digital PainRule #16: The three second ruleRule #32: Be a Baker not an EaterThere are numerous case studies about individuals and companies who have used good judgment and bad judgment in posting photos, videos and comments on social media sites. There is a chapter on "digital stamps" - "a permanent collection and culmination of your digital footprints and digital shadows". Your digital stamp matters 5 seconds from now, 5 years from now, 50 years from now and 500 years from now. This book was funded by a very successful Kickstarter campaign. This is a timely subject and something that everyone should be thinking about. People will judge you by what you post...you must decide how you want to be known.Your "digital stamp" will be with you for the rest of your life. Young people like to post pictures of parties and good times but future job recruiters may not be impressed. The author did a good job researching this subject and presenting the material in a very understandable manner. I think "reputation management" will be a growing topic of concern for individuals, non-profits and businesses in the years to come.I love the list of "Must Reads" the author included at the end of the book. These books will inspire and educate readers on the subjects of social media, marketing and life. Now is the time to think about the digital stamp you are creating. This book is well worth your time.My Rating: 5 Stars Out Of 5FYI~ I received a complimentary digital copy of this book to read and review from NetGalley.

This book is WELL WORTH THE MONEY!!!!
This book is a great book for anyone who needs to manage their digital reputations! If you are considering going online or want to build a online brand, this book comes highly recommended. If you have done something stupid in the past and see yourself going "viral", read this book and implement many of the suggestions within the hour.If you have done something in the past that you don't want a potential employer seeing, check this book for the solution. This is a awesome resource that I will be referring to time and time again, and I may even buy the paperback copy just to have it on my shelf.I learned several new things from this book and there are some websites that I will also use in building my own brand within this book. I didn't even know about some of them, yet they are very popular. Please let me know if you found my review helpful! Thanks!

A contemporary parenting manual meets life coach book!
Qualman is a social media savant; while his bailiwick has typically been in extolling the virtues of social media in a broad sense to create professional value, Vegas approaches social media in a different way, though no less engaging or intelligent. In his latest book, Qualman talks more about how social media will give you a digital shadow - while some shy away from that due to concerns over privacy, Qualman turns this dynamic upside down by positing that fear of embracing and controlling your digital shadow will ultimately make you and your brand obsolete. This is a powerful argument that Qualman makes and he advances his points with careful deliberation and counsel; as a professional and as a parent to young children, I find his counsel invaluable in embracing the need to have a digital stamp and, moreover, controlling it maturely.

No Fluff - Good Content
Being a little more internet savvy than most, I am always cautious as to what I post online. However, my friends and family, not so swift sometimes. What Happens in Vegas Stays on YouTube is an excellent resource to wake you up to think before you push the send button. Once it is out there, it's there forever. Good advice and a quick and easy read.

Great cautionary tales, easy to read - good for all ages
Everyone should read this, especially teenagers. We should all know by now to not turn loose wild information or pictures on the Internet because those things *always* come back to haunt us, but this book is a great reminder of how even the little things can trip you up.Particularly when emotions are running high, don't think twice about what you put on social media - think three or even four times.I give thanks on a daily basis the Internet wasn't around when I was younger. It doesn't bear thinking about.

Great to read and educational.
I read this book for class. It was one of the most enjoyable reads I have had for an assigned reading and the content actually pertained to what I feel like I may face in the real world. It was well written and factual. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking to learn more about social media or public relations. It doesn't take a long time to read and sections can easily be pulled out individually for use as examples.

Not a lot of new here
This is a well written book with solid concepts in it. I think most of the ideas are not terribly new territory to folks familiar with the digital world, but pick it up, sometimes we find one concept that makes the whole thing worth it.

Readable, but ultimately simplistic.
Read this for a social media class. It's very readable , and filed with interesting anecdotes to accent the tips given within. However, I found it's advice to be fairly common sense based. For an older audience adopting social media for the first time, this book could be essential. But for the campus audience - who already live in the social media domain - it feels very obvious.

Socialnomics is still #1
Interesting book with a lot of insights for those who are new to social media and wish to learn more. Full of good tips for those who wish to learn the dos and dont's of marketing on social. Nevertheless, "Socialnomics" is E. Qualman's finest work!
