Scrub skillet well in hot soapy water2. Dry thoroughly with heat on (removing any residue on the surface with burning it up)3. Spread a thin layer of melted shortening or vegetable oil over the pot4. Bake the pot5. Repeat number 3 and 4 many times (more than 3 times)6. Pot gets dark brown during the procedure above, and shines in black when you turn the heat off and let it cool7.
