Have they fixed the quality control/rattle on this item yet? Was just wondering if it's been fixed in the 2+ years since reviews

Definitely NOT fixed. Bought mine in June 2022. Stopped working in January 2023 (the seventh month) and now rattles.

rattle reports are real indeed?

Probably only AudioQuest fanboys and employees answering these questions and submitting reviews. Yes, they rattle, I have returned the first one because of this, it was bad. The second one started rattling as well after a couple of weeks, but only at the 3.5mm jack side. I have put some Loctite drops on the tip of a needle and put it in the space between the plastic shell and 3.5mm and now it's settled, no rattling at the moment. I wish to thank AudioQuest for giving me this 269£ DIY opportunity. So, I've had two separate examples into my hands, both of them crap build quality, serious QC issues.

Will this work with amazon music hd on my samsung s10+ phone with ultrahd tracks (24bit 96khz)?

No reason why it wouldn't work. The Cobalt handles 24 bit 96Khz and will work from the USB-C port on your Samsung as it does on my Xiaomi Mi9t. Sounds great!

Do i need a seperate otg cable in conjunction with android device?

I use it with my iPad in the van to listen to podcasts with an “Apple Camera Adaptor”. That means that iPad is being charged and I am using Auxiliary cable out of AudioQuest to aux in on my audio unit. On Android you would need something charging the phone and again an auxiliary cable running out of the the DAC to an aux in on your stereo unit (if it has one). The unit you use to charge your Android would have to have an USB out to connect DAC to same phone. It is more complicated with Android but someone might give you better advice than I have.
