I was so pleased with this product! It's very hard to find quality educational and creative toys for children that aren't over priced - where you get a little quality for a lot of money. This kit is worth every penny. I shopped around and found the best price on Amazon. Got it for my 8 year old's birthday (just turned 8) and she loved it. This is perfect for any girl that is interested in learning fashion design or sewing or has an interest in making their own barbie clothes - or just likes to be creative and artsy. As an added plus I found it useful for homeschooling. (Measuring, art, careers, textures, etc.) The kit included fun fabrics for the kids to play with, a mannequin, a book to draw their designs in and very nice instructions I was pleased with. Needles, swatches, thread, swatches, fabric glue and pencil, and a very pretty pre-made dress that the little ones can just add fancy stuff too if they want (I think it ran big though). There was more but I bought it a while ago so I can't remember everything. Little hangers for clothes. (Having a case to keep everything in would have been nice - but probably would have made the product more expensive.) There was a lot to "explore" with the kit so it wasn't just ripping it open and throwing it aside. It's definitely something to sit down with. I also felt it was new and different than a lot of stuff out there. (She's my youngest of six..so I've got a grasp on what's out there...) The idea of saving money by making barbie clothes is a good idea too. I am so happy I found this and I highly recommend it. If I'm ever stuck to get another girl a birthday present and they like Barbies I'd definitely consider getting this for a gift. Highly recommended.

My daughter loved this!! She is 10 and has gotten into fashion design and sewing. She loved this!! Tons of really cute fabric, accessories (small Bows), it comes with a pin cushion, & measuring tape. We thought it was a great gift!

This is a super cute kit! We got it for our daughter's 8th birthday. She's been learning the basics of sewing, so we thought this would be a great way to take her skills up a notch. This helps her see how different things affect the style such as how the fabric type affects drape, how the notions work together, etc. This won't teach anyone how to sew, so make sure you have the right intention. The purpose of this kit is to teach you how to design.I have two small dislikes about this kit. First, there is no bag or box or whatever to keep everything together. Luckily, we also got our daughter the Faber and Castell Creativity for Kids You Special Occasion Fashions Playset, which comes with a small bag. She is able to keep the two kits together in that bag.My other issue (which is the same as for the Special Occasion set) is that there isn't much fabric. A few extra yards could easily fit into the box, and it would give them many more options when designing. It's easy and inexpensive to purchase remnants from Joann, but for the price of this kit, it really should come with some more fabric.

I have to say, this product has exceeded expectations. The age range specifies on the box 8 years old to 98 years old haha! If you have a serious young child who really wants to know beginning steps learning fashion apparel designing, this is such a great product! It's a toy and a tool all-in-one! It was for a six year olds birthday present. Three of the six year olds, in our family have created such amazing things that, I as an artist myself , could never have imagined at that age. I was afraid this box was going to be a knock off when it arrived oh, and it wasn't. I really don't think I can specify enough just how great this product has been for our three little ones at 6 years old could be creating such fun things oh, but it is great!

Bought this for my grand daughter she loved it!She had great talent in designing and decorating! Great gift for girl who loves to create!

We spent the entire afternoon making fairy dresses for Barbies. This was a really fun and engaging craft that was simple enough for a kindergartener since the fairy version is no sew. I did help knot the tutus. We did some with craft glue that we had to wait patiently for them to dry and others without glue for immediate use. Highly recommend!

This kit is just OK. WHile it comes with a lot of material and everything you need... It does not give you a lot of practical help.There is no pattern to follow to cut the materials or sewing instructions. Which as far as I am aware, most little girls in this day and age do not already know how to do this. I can follow a pattern and sew basics. I have made a couple dresses before. Which is why I thought we would be able to use this kit to teach my daughter to sew dresses for her dolls. She wants to make clothes when she grows up. But this kit gives you no real direction other than to show you how to make a fashion designers sketch. Which was fun for her, it just didn't town out to help her make a dress.The kit comes with glue to glue on sequins and jewels on the one premade dress that comes in the kit. You are to add your own special decorations to the dress. The glue doesn't hold half the things that you try to stick on with it.The idea is nice, but just not as well done as it should have been. THe adults making this design studio should have known that little girls would need more direction and help in making a real dress than what they gave.

I got this for my 12 year old grand daughter who is getting into sewing and she loved it.I don't know if she's started to work on it but she was very happy to see it under theChristmas tree.
